Whether you’re dueling samurais, saving the world with magical girls, or mashing buttons in a fighting game, Fate’s got you covered.

Here’s your guide to every Fate game you didn’t know you needed, with enough trivia to flex at your next Holy Grail War party!

1. Fate/stay night

fate stay night remastered visual novel route

Fate/stay night, the game that started it all.

where Shirou Emiya is a cinnamon roll too good for this world, but also too naïve to realize that saying “people die when they are killed” isn’t deep.

Choose your waifu: Saber, Rin, or Sakura, and pray you don’t get stuck in Sakura’s route without snacks.

It’s the OG! Play this and understand 20% of what happens in the anime adaptations.

2. Fate/Hollow Ataraxia

Direct sequel to Fate/stay night.

Welcome to the never-ending Groundhog Day of Fuyuki City. Bazett and Avenger are stuck in a time loop.

Shirou’s also there, cooking and being blissfully unaware. More slice-of-life than battlefield, but with that classic Nasu mind-warping charm. Shirou gets to date every girl and still somehow not notice anyone likes him.

Fate/Hollow Ataraxia has the best mini-games, including one where you fish. Yes, fish with Servants.

It’s Fate game, but relaxing! Finally, you get a game where nobody dies. Except when they do, but then it’s fine because TIME LOOP.

3. Fate/Unlimited Codes

Fate/Unlimited Codes

A 2D fighter where you can pit Artoria against every character you love (or love to hate). The Fate series meets Street Fighter in the Holy Grail War of button mashing.

This is the game where you can finally make Gilgamesh stop monologuing by punching him in the face. And Shirou actually gets to look cool here!

It’s one of the best Fate fighters ever, a hidden gem from Capcom.

4. Fate/tiger colosseum

Fate/tiger colosseum

The actual Fate fighting game you never knew you needed. It’s a 3D arena brawler where the Fate cast has been chibified into adorable warriors.

Berserker is even more terrifying in chibi form, somehow. The game that answers the question, “what if Fate but more cute?”

It’s dumb, it’s fun, and you can punch people as mini-Saber. Why not?

5. Fate/Extra

Fate/Extra

Who needs Fuyuki City when you’ve got the Moon Cell? In this game, you’ll play as either a guy or girl stuck in a virtual Holy Grail War. It’s like Fate/stay night but with Sci-Fi element. With robots. And fanservice.

Introduced the dungeon-crawling RPG style to the Fate universe.

Play this if you want Saber with even more red clothing. Also, it’s like a JRPG that will question your life choices every time you get stuck in a random dungeon.

6. Fate/Extra CCC

Fate/Extra CCC

The spiritual sequel to Fate/Extra but extra spicy. Darker, sexier, and more confusing. Enjoy battles against enemies that look like existential crises and bosses that embody high school nightmares.

The game that made Medb into Fate’s answer to “mature” content. Introduced the BB Channel, which is like a reality TV show but with more suffering.

Play this if you want to experience what it feels like to stare into the void. And the void stares back wearing high heels.

7. Fate/Zero Next Encounter

Fate/Zero Next Encounter

Let’s pretend the Holy Grail War needed a street brawler spin-off and here’s your game! Take Fate/Zero’s serious drama and throw it into a game where Kiritsugu can punch the Grail War into submission.

Saber (Artoria) gets a new leather jacket because “edgy is in.” Waver Velvet tries his best and… that’s it. He just tries his best. You can finally play as Rider and crush everyone with the power of BEARD and CHARIOT.

Kiritsugu punching people. Enough said.

8. Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya

Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya

Imagine Fate mixed with a magical girl show. Now turn up the absurdity dial, and you’ve got Prisma☆Illya.

In this game, you guide Illya through heart-pounding magical girl battles that are somehow still about saving the world—just with way more glitter and cute transformation sequences.

The Servants here aren’t your standard noble phantasms; they’re Class Cards! Yep, our magical girls summon the spirits of famous heroes to take on magical duties. Nothing says “destined hero” like King Arthur showing up as a trading card.

The game’s story is based on the anime, so expect Illya, Miyu, and Kuro to be throwing sparkly punches alongside your favorite magical girls with some seriously broken powers.

Come for the magical girl charm, stay for the utterly chaotic fights where you’ll question, “Why is Illya suplexing Gilgamesh?” Not enough magical girl Fate content in your life? Here’s your fix.

9. Fate/Grand Order

fate grand order anime

The mobile gacha game that prints money faster than you can say “Saint Quartz.”

You play as the one Master who can save humanity by collecting anime waifus and husbandos and throwing them at historical problems.

Has over 500 servants. You WILL spend money on this game, don’t lie. Event storylines range from the historically accurate to “why is Ishtar a cowgirl?”

Because gambling for 5-star characters is the true endgame. Also, it’s actually got an amazing story. Mostly.

10. Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star

Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star

Ever wanted to control Saber in a Dynasty Warriors-style game? Here’s your chance! Slash your way through hundreds of enemies like they’re made of paper. Because they are.

Nero’s here again, and this time she’s got a cute hat! Every attack looks like it came from a Michael Bay movie—explosions everywhere. Lizards are enemies for some reason. I don’t make the rules.

For the over-the-top action and to see your favorite servants wreck shop. Also, Saber in a wedding dress.

11. Fate/Extella Link

Fate/Extella Link

The follow-up to Umbral Star with more servants, more explosions, and less sense. You thought Fate couldn’t get more chaotic? Think again.

Astolfo is playable, so that’s automatically a win. You can combo more servants than ever before, meaning more boom. The plot is mostly there as an excuse to beat up everything in sight.

Come for the waifus, stay for the destruction of entire armies with a single swing.

12. Fate/Grand Order Arcade

Fate/Grand Order Arcade

What’s better than playing Fate/Grand Order on your phone? Playing it in a full-blown arcade machine, of course!

FGO Arcade is the larger, more flashy cousin of the mobile gacha game, complete with 3D battles, Servant flexing, and wallet-breaking card collecting. But hey, at least you get shiny plastic cards to show for it!

The Servants are pretty much the same as FGO, but now with added 3D graphics and way cooler battle animations.

Imagine spending half an hour strategizing a fight only for your favorite Servant to still lose because you didn’t pay enough for those premium Saint Quartz.

You’ll feel the arcade rush when your card finally rolls your desired Servant, and let’s face it, there’s no greater thrill than watching your luck drain in glorious HD.

Sadly you can’t play it unless you live in Japan.

13. Today’s MENU for EMIYA Family

Today’s MENU for EMIYA Family

In this wholesome spin-off, we step away from the battlefield and into Shirou’s cozy kitchen.

You play as Shirou, whose greatest skill isn’t casting magic, but cooking up mouth-watering dishes for the entire Fate cast.

Saber, Rin, and even Rider stop by to taste his culinary masterpieces, because even legendary heroes need a good meal after a long day of doing… well, legendary things.

Your mission? Make sure everyone leaves the table happy.

If you’re tired of saving the world or being emotionally destroyed by the usual Fate drama, this game is a palate cleanser.

Instead of Servant duels, you’re dueling the clock to make sure Saber’s stew doesn’t burn. Honestly, it’s the most relaxing thing you can do with the Fate characters.

14. Melty Blood: Type Lumina

Melty Blood: Type Lumina

Technically it’s Tsukihime game.

Melty Blood: Type Lumina is the newest iteration of the Melty Blood series, set in the same universe as Nasuverse.

This game is a crossover fever dream. You get to see Saber take on the moon princesses of Tsukihime while delivering the smoothest combos this side of the Fate fighting universe.

Saber finally gets to channel her inner Street Fighter character, throwing out EXcaliburs like Hadoukens. Except, you know, much cooler, because it’s Saber.

Type Lumina introduces several of the Fate fan-favorites into a hardcore fighting environment. Don’t know how to play? Just mash buttons!

Oh, and you’ll get to impress people with your knowledge of every obscure character from Tsukihime that isn’t in Fate—that’s the real prize.

15. Fate/Samurai Remnant

Fate/Samurai Remnant

What happens when you mix the Edo period with a Holy Grail War? You get this game!

Fate/Samurai Remnant follows Miyamoto Iori, a samurai caught in yet another Holy Grail mess.

Instead of futuristic cities or mythical castles, expect bustling Edo streets, katanas, and Servants who are way too comfortable wielding swords that should be museum pieces.

The game adds samurai spice to the Holy Grail formula. Every Servant seems to have a reason to flex their sword skills, but let’s be real, no one swings a sword with more zen than Sasaki Kojiro. It’s all about that Swallow Reversal™.

Because who doesn’t want to experience the Holy Grail War with samurai vibes?

If you love Fate and enjoy weird mashups, each of these games offers something uniquely chaotic. Whether it’s samurai showdowns, magical girl insanity, or arcade button-smashing, there’s something for every Fate fan here.

And let’s be honest, after playing all these games, you’ll know more historical and fictional characters than you’ll ever need. Who needs regular history education when the Fate series exists?
