Gaku Iwasa founded the studio White Fox in April 2007 after his team left OLM, an animation studio best known for the dark fantasy hits Berserk as well as the Pokémon series.
After the success of the third series, Steins; Gate, which was released in 2011, Studio White Fox gained a greater reputation and became more well-known. Since then, they have kept up their consistent production of high-quality work with predictable outcomes.
White Fox has a wonderful collection of anime that should be watched by fans, despite the fact that the company has only been in business for a little over a decade. Without further ado, I will now provide a selection of 10 different anime produced by the White Fox company.
1. Katanagatari
Episode | 12 |
Genre | Action, Adventure, Romance |
Nisio Ision, creator of the smash hit series Monogatari, wrote the light novel Katanagatari. The anime version, which features a distinct visual style, debuted in 2010 with monthly 45-minute episodes.
Describes the quest to locate twelve fabled blades. The shogun has tasked his strategist, Togame, with retrieving the twelve swords. He sought out Shichika Yasuri since he had been betrayed previously.
Known as Kyotouryuu, Shichika was skilled in the technique of swordplay without the use of a blade. Togame has challenged Shichika to a tournament with the strongest swordsmen in Japan in order to capture all twelve swords simultaneously.
The love story between Shichika and Togame, breathtaking fight scenes, foreboding tragedy at every turn, and a shocking conclusion all contribute to make Katanagatari a great epic.
2. Steins;Gate
Episode | 24 |
Genre | Action, Adventure, Romance, Sci-fi |
The mystery of time travel is revealed to Rintarou Okabe, and with that discovery comes repercussions. Many viewers, including myself, find the first few episodes to be tedious, but towards the middle of the series, we come to appreciate why Steins; Gate is still frequently considered as one of the anime that chooses to compete.
The White Fox was first widely recognized thanks to Steins; Gate.
This time-traveling thriller, adapted from a visual novel, is widely regarded as among the best anime ever made. Even though the first Steins; Gate was a psychological thriller, the sequel, Steins; Gate 0 delves even further into that genre, and its tragic premise makes it all the more so.
3. Jormungand
Episode | 12 |
Genre | Action, Adventure, Seinen |
Koko Hekmatyar’s vision for a peaceful world is called Jormungand. Koko is in charge of her father’s shipping company’s Europe/Africa Arms Transport Division, where she deals in weapons.
Koko and her nine guards work for world peace by supplying both sides equally with weapons. The mercenary Koko remains the ideal complement to the hardy warriors already available in Jormungand, thanks to his inventive and effective battlefield strategies.
4. Hataraku Mou Sama (The Devil is a Part-Timer)
Episode | 12 |
Genre | Comedy, Supernatural, Fantasy |
After being defeated by the hero Emilia Justina, Satan and his loyal general Alciel were cast out of their planet through a gateway. After being exiled to Japan, they renamed themselves Sadao Maou and Shirou Ashiya.
While Ashiya looks for a solution to restore their abilities, Sadao gets a part-time job at a fast food joint. Emilia is no different; she wants to fulfill her goal but, lacking magic, must work like everyone else in the modern world. White Fox also offers the hilarious comedy series The Devil Is a Part-Timer!
Though the fight scenes are enjoyable, what really makes The Devil Is a Part-Timer stand out is the camaraderie and playful banter between Sadao, Ashiya, Emi, and the rest of the cast.
5. Akame Ga Kill!
Episode | 24 |
Genre | Action, Adventure, Drama, Fantasy |
Tatsumi hopes to make it big in the Big City and provide for his impoverished hometown. He and his two villagers pals set out for the city itself.
Tatsumi, after being separated from his travel companions, discovers that the Capital is not as picturesque as everyone claims it to be. After a short time, he realized the system was rigged.
He already knew that his pals weren’t as fortunate as he was. In order to save the corrupt, a bunch of assassins enlist Tatsumi. It sets out on an adventure to right wrongs and avenge the oppressed.
The adaptation of Akame ga Kill! was lauded for its excellent production value, something of a signature for White Fox animation, despite being contentious with some manga fans because the anime concluded earlier than the manga.
6. Matoi the Sacred Slayer
Episode | 12 |
Genre | Action, Magical Girl, Supernatural |
First and only original work by White Fox is Matoi the Sacred Slayer. Exorcist girls was just another name for magical girl, and that’s what the girls in this anime were called.
Everything that makes a magical girl anime wonderful is here, and it’s all animated in the same high-quality White Fox fashion fans have come to expect. By creating characters like Matoi the Sacred Slayer, the White Fox have once again demonstrated their ability to adapt to a wide range of tonalities.
7. Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu
Episode | 25 (S1) |
Genre | Action, Adventure, Fantasy, Isekai, Psychological, Romance, Thriller |
Despite Subaru’s expectations, Re:ZERO is not your run-of-the-mill isekai fantasy.
It has elements of both a romantic comedy and a psychological thriller, and will elicit both our sympathy and our disgust.
Subaru Natsuki tossed into a fantastical realm. His expectations were swiftly dashed as he learned that real life did not mirror the fictional worlds he had inhabited in his video games and comics. He had neither special abilities nor had he been singled out as the Chosen One.
Re:ZERO, like the rest of the White Fox series, naturally becomes darker as it progresses.
Be prepared to have your mind blown by each episode of Re:ZERO. In his ever-increasing desperation to discover a way forward, Subaru and those close to him would perish repeatedly.
8. Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou (Girl’s Last Tour)
Episode | 12 |
Genre | Adventure, Sci-Fi, Slice of Life |
Girls’ Last Tour has bright and cheery character designs stand in stark contrast to the dark and foreboding setting, but White Fox’s ability to successfully combine seemingly opposite aspects is one of its strongest points.
Chito and Yuuri venture out into the wasteland in quest of fuel for their Kettenkrad and supplies for themselves. They weren’t going anywhere specific; they were just going to the city’s peak. Though they live in a terrible situation, they manage to find joy in each other and the little things in life.
While Girls’ Last Tour has the impression of a slice of life, we know that Chito and Yuuri are struggling to stay alive. Although this slice of life stories are often heartwarming, the fact that Chito and Yuuri have to fight to stay alive in such a hostile place adds a layer of irony to this anime, especially in light of the tragedy they are coping with.
9. Grimoire of Zero (Zero Kara Hajimeru Mahou no Sho)
Episode | 12 |
Genre | Action, Adventure, Magic, Fantasy |
Grimoire of Zero, adapted from the light novel of the same name, is White Fox’s 14th series and was released on the studio’s tenth anniversary. You can expect the usual high quality from the White Fox series with this anime.
The Beastfallen were mistreated because of the fact that they appeared to be part human and half beast.
As part of his quest to join humanity, one Beastfallen hopes to one day run a watering hole. When he met Zero, a wizard by happenstance, he began to feel hopeful again. Zero offers to transform him into a human if he may be accompanied on a quest to find a mystical ledger known as the Grimoire of Zero.
Grimoire of Zero appears to be a humorous fantasy tale at first, but as we progress through the story, we see that it deals with very serious and difficult issues. Also, as the story progresses, we get to witness the development of the protagonists’ endearing friendship.
10. Goblin Slayer
Episode | 12 |
Genre | Action, Adventure, Fantasy |
Because of how brutal and disturbing its first episode was, the anime became a trending topic on Twitter. However, Studio White Fox’s anime only has a minor violent scene in the first episode.
After that, it felt like we could watch any episode without worrying. Goblin Slayer is a dark and bloody adventure series that fans of the genre should check out.
